First of the Yugoslav Wars infantry painted up

While I've been enjoying the last few days of summer, I've also been painting up the Yugoslav Wars infantry I got from Platoon 20.
I thought I'd show what they look like all painted up. Enjoy!

I should probably be getting some more miniatures in the future, I think I'll get some Serbs this time, but they're on eBay and they'll probably ship from England, which is always fun waiting for them (oh goody).
I might also get a couple of sets, one just to tide me over as I get back into the "school groove".

Platoon 20 Yugoslav Wars Generic Infantry preview

My first troops for the Yugoslav Wars have arrived! This is more of a generic militia, and it could probably apply to any of the 3 armies during the war.
These are some great looking miniatures from Platoon 20, although I got them from the U.S. company that sells them.
Anyway, enough of my yammering, let's get to the preview!

In Force on Force rules, this should make up about a fireteam or so.

This is who I'll assign to my squad leader, he just looks like one to me. Also, it's just my favorite pose.

This figure appears to be wearing a flak jacket, which adds another defense die in Force on Force.

This guy is being smart and ducking.

Here's the back just so you can see what they look like turned around, just if anyone is interested in picking this set up.

I may do a camouflage painting guide, showing you guys how to paint M81 Woodland camouflage. Stay tuned!

Today's order

I've been working for the money to buy some miniatures for my new Yugoslav Wars era.
Today, I went over to Syr-Hobbs Wargames and bought a generic 4-man infantry set from Platoon 20.

The code on the Platoon 20 Website is M-BW1, if anyone is interested.

Syr-Hobbs is normally pretty good on shipping time, and luckily it's U.S.-based so it should be here within a week and half or so.
I will do a preview (as I normally do) of the miniatures before I paint them when they get here.

Painted Platoon 20 Scottish Infantry Company

I painted the last 2 miniatures of my first British Infantry company today. I'll let you see them.

Here they are in total.

1 Plt. First platoon I painted up.

2 Plt. I really enjoyed painting the figures with the Tam o'Shanters. That was always fun.

3 Plt. I nicknamed the one on the right "Cpl. Butterscotch". No idea why, but at least one soldier in every force needs a valid nickname.

And finally 4 Plt. I painted these today. 

Next up will probably either be an HQ company or a heavy/support company, them or the Paras.

First British Cold War preview (Platoon 20)

I got around to some painting today. I painted 2 miniatures, 1 Scottish and 1 with a Steel helmet (possibly belonging to a Scottish regiment as well). Anyhow, let's get to the preview.

I think I went a little to heavy on the wash on this one. I wish I had a different light to show you guys this one with. I might actually re-paint this miniature entirely.

Now onto the Scottish. I learned my lesson as to not go too heavy on the wash, so I did a light wash. Came out looking really good.

Both of them together. I found that a quick highlight of the one I did a heavy wash on worked okay.

Post-War British Infantry from Platoon 20

So my Platoon 20 Cold War era British Infantry came in the mail today. They look wonderful!
Anyhow, I figured that it would be fair if I gave you guys a preview.

All of them will make up a company of infantry.

Definitely liking the helmets on the 3 of them (they're all Mk. V helmets, used by the British military up until the 80's I believe).

4 Scottish soldiers with Tam o' Shanters's. I am thinking of putting one of each in a platoon.

Today's British buys

I went over to Syr Hobbs Wargames, fully intending to buy some Platoon 20 Post War British Infantry, but when I saw they were out, I went over to East Riding Miniatures and picked up a couple of sets of Post WWII British Infantry.
I'll show you the image that was given on the website of the sets I bought. Enjoy!

Here are some soldiers in Steel Helmets (well, most of them at least).

Of course I had to order some Scottish infantry! You all know I'm a sucker Scottish and Irish regiments, so I had to order some Scots, and maybe there will be some Irish later on.

These will more than likely be along in about 20 days or so because they're shipping from the UK. Stay tuned!

A Winter's Day, in a deep and dark December...

Ah, quoting I am a Rock, my favourite "feeling down" song by my boys Simon and Garfunkel. With the new miniatures, I've started building up my US Forces, and I've decided that they don't really have to be a specific unit, just a generic infantry unit. Well, I've almost built up a rifle company, and 3 other companies are soon to follow, building up about a battalion or so. I've got my rifle company, an anti-armour company, a reconnaissance company and 2 platoons of Light Machine Guns. I've considered augmenting them into my recon company, but I haven't decided yet. Anyhow, let's get to the miniatures I painted over the weekend, shall we?

So you can see I've switched back to the old tiles (no, the soldiers shown in the picture are NOT doing battle, their Allies, sheesh).

Starting with the so-far third Canadian I've painted. I've decided to give all of the Canadians the same type of helmet camo as the Americans.

The Elhiem support gunner with an M60.

Another by Liberation Miniatures (sorry for the blur).

And the grenadier, which I've put in the anti-armour company (though grenadiers can't attack tanks, only infantry, anti-tankers can't attack infantry, so the grenadiers are their body guards, if you will).

Though the picture is sideways, this is another Norwegian.

Painting NATO: Part 3

I painted more Americans (I'm going to cool it on the Canadians for right now), which I've decided that they belong to the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, but I can switch them around a little. Anyhow, I painted another Norwegian, and it's starting to look good for NATO.

Here they are just before I put the tiles back on the table (I did that after taking the pictures).

Probably my least-favourite one of the bunch, the one from Elhiem. Don't like this one, but it had to be done...

Here's one from Liberation. I think I'm getting the hang of painting the Vietnam-Era US soldiers (even though Standoff: Cold War takes place after Vietnam).

The first Grenadier I've ever had to paint. I was considering painting a heart tattoo on his left shoulder, but then I decided that the idea was kaput.

And finally the Norwegian, which is using the Pakistani set from Elhiem.

I am going to be taking a vacation for a little while, but I may put on some "Tchotchke Posts" of the random stuff outside miniatures that I do. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy Hanukkah!!!
