Some newly aquired terrain pieces

I've been sort of out of action regarding miniatures lately, so I took some time to focus on terrain making and buying.
I had some extra plaster mould sitting around, so I decided to make another little high-rise.

I bought a house recently at a local hobby store, too. I re-painted it and added some flock to the base.

I also found some styrofoam lying around, so I made a trenchline and hill with it.
Stay tuned!

Giant Rock build/Terrain Swop

Friday night... I got bored so I rummaged around the house, looking for snacks, something to do, etc. Dad didn't have anything for me to do, neither did mum or the ol' sister, so I took a look around my own environment (the basement) and found something to do.
It started with a little piece of styrofoam. I painted it grey and then let that dry for a little while.

After it got done drying, I put some glue on the top and sprinkled on some "turf slurry" (as I call it) which is really just a mixture of modelling flock, a few pinches of my dad's road sand (we use it for when our driveway gets icy) and some pebbles.

There it is! All done. Now, let's get to that terrain swop, shall we?
I decided that the "rock" that I got from our lizard cage wasn't quite doing the trick, so I swopped that out with a hill I made with my sister this past summer.
(Before)

(After) WHAT'S THIS?!?!? The rock has vanished! Yes, it's been returned to my lizard.

I'd say he was quite happy with that.

Basing model trees: What a chore

I bought some model trees, and boy, is it a chore to base them. I tried basing them using regular glue. Didn't work. Superglue. That didn't work either. Hot glue. That didn't work. However, finally, I bought some Gorilla glue and it was all good.
Not bad for 10 dollars for a bag of 10.

If I can get my camera to keep batteries in longer than 2 seconds (literally, I take 2 pictures and it says I need to change the batteries, ridiculous) I'll upload more. I've painted more Norwegians and Canadians along with a few more Americans, but now I'm REALLY out of primer, so it might be a little while before I paint more.
Also, Brody is coming over for New Year's Eve which we'll be doing some serious wargaming for the West Germany Campaign of Standoff: Cold War, so tune in then, or after your 24-hour hangover.

Another building

I made another styrofoam building today. I decided to make an apartment building from nothing but scratch. I think that it turned out okay.

Here's the front. Modifications have since been made.

Here's the finished product. WHY. WON'T. THIS. PAINT. EVER. DRY?!?!?!?!? It's been about 6 hours and the paint isn't dried yet.
Stay tuned for more!

Innovation at it's finest

I decided to get creative with base-making, because I realized that I really needed to put my miniatures on bases. You might be surprised with what I used.
I found some Styrofoam plates in the closet near my office area so I decided to try those for bases.

It turns out they worked really good, and I based the first Israeli on it.

Russian HQ Build

Yesterday, out of sheer boredom, I started to look for a Styrofoam block that I could use for maybe a building or two. I found one, and I made my Russian Headquarters building. I made this from nearly scratch, but in the end I think it looked good.
After carving out a door and putting on a cardboard base, I began to work on the impact holes from enemy shelling.

Some impact holes from the side.

Obviously just by looking at it, the top has been heavily mortared.

A peek inside. I didn't pay much attention to the inside. I wish I did though.

For some reason, the superglue I used started to eat away at the Styrofoam. Maybe some chemical component that I'm unaware of. Chemistry is beyond my understanding.

Here's the finished product. I might put a Russian flag above the door or some place like that. The upcoming Russians. vs. Rebels game will most likely see this amidst the battlefield. Bring it, Rebels!
