Force on Force is on it's way!

TToday I ordered Osprey Publishing's "Force on Force" modern wargaming rules.
An interesting fact: this is the first set of wargame rules that I haven't made up on my own!
After talking it over with my good friend James, we'll be gaming in a modern Second American Revolution (or Second American Civil War), which takes place during a military coup d'etat in 2012.
The situation is basically that the U.S. Army along with the support of friendly militias overthrow the U.S. Government (this is purely fictitious, I don't believe this will happen, more like a "what if" scenario). An army called the "American People's Army" forms and begins to fight the U.S. Army across the country from Arizona to New York city. Both sides of the war have civilian militias supporting their causes.
Another thought I had was the Iran-Iraq War, but its starting to lean more towards the Second Revolution.
I will be picking some miniatures up from Syr Hobbs Wargames sometime in the near future. We're back to 20mm, WOOOO!! I also just noticed that this is my 100th Post. Another hooray for the Basement Wargamer.
Stay tuned!

Maybe working on another set of rules

I have been looking at a lot of Great War miniatures on the Pendraken miniatures website.
I haven't really started working on the actual rules yet, but I have begun scheming for it. This set of rules with be compatible for 10mm, 15mm and 20mm scales as opposed to the 20mm scale of Standoff: Cold War. Truth be told, the actual name of the game isn't very suiting. I chose the name Standoff because the Cold War really was a, well... Standoff. I think a name change for this Great War set of rules would be necessary.
I don't know, what do you guys think?

West German test miniatures

I started figuring out the painting scheme for the West German Army, which is a project I intend to carry out soon. (Also the British Army, Elhiem just released a BAOR set, so I'll definitely be picking those up when I get the extra coin).
I used an extra Elhiem figure, which I was intending to use for the Norwegians, but since I've got a company of them, I'll start working on the West Germans.
An anti-aircraft missile firer. I don't really know what shade of grey I used for the uniform, I just took a little bottle of grey paint, spread that out and decided that it looked good.

I have made the decision to cover my table with one colour of static grass, buying grass mats for it after that. Oh, and I've decided that I'll be sticking with the 20mm Cold War thing!

Thinking of taking a break from 20mm...

I starting thinking today about plans for 2012, and one of them was to focus a little more on a non-fictional, probably WWII wargame in a 15mm scale, probably using Flames of War miniatures. I'll probably come up with a completely different game when I get some more 15mm minis, but don't hold your breath, this is just a thought.
What do you guys think?

Upcoming buys

Since I have some extra coin on me, I figured I would head on over to eBay and pick up some more miniatures. I figured that I might show you guys what I bought.
Set 2 was what I first looked at (considering it is first) and I decided that a good Israeli set would be nice to have around for a good game of Standoff.

Though the boxes are almost identical, the poses are very different. I'll show them to you when the new troops arrive. Both are from Orion, a manufacturer I am coming to like very much.

Todays' purchases

I bought these today along with some other sets, but this set really made my day.

I bought some Chechen rebels for maybe a wargame or two (I smell battle on the horizon). Every army has an enemy!

In addition to the Rebels, I also bought some Russian Federal Troops. Looks like we're doing some re-enacting.

A furture set...

I plan to be ordering these soon for Cold War month (September, yes I know, it's not yet here, but it will be soon, and this set will probably be ready by then). I took a look at the set on Plastic Soldier Review.com, and it looks to be the British Army in the late-50's, just the period that I like. I might have these in a few weeks, hopefully. Tune in then and hopefully I'll have them prepped and ready for painting. Cheers!

Coming Soon...

I picked these figures up on eBay for 10.99 recently. I love them so far. I plan to put them on once I get the paints and superglue (they require construction).

Very very detailed.
